INBOARD SALT WATER ENGINE FLUSH

Many boaters who have inboard engines with fresh water closed cooling systems, do not realize that the raw water side of the engine, where salt water passes through the heat exchanger and out the exhaust manifold, can have major salt corrosion problems and expenses.

Some boaters ignore this situation until the engine over-heats and by then, the labor for repairs, let alone the parts, is very costly.

For inboard engines, most boaters find a way to plumb fresh water lines and valves into the system (retrofit), then use Salt-Away’s Mixing Unit to introduce Salt-Away into the engine.

Consult with your mechanic for this type of modification.

Salt-Away can also be used with salt water to flush the system. Salt-Away’s corrosion inhibitors and highly concentrated formula allows this procedure to work. See directions below.

Tip: The first time this is tried, using a watch with a second hand, it is good to measure the time it takes Salt-Away to get to the exhaust by asking a friend to tell you when the foaming action is visible at the stern. After then, time the engine flush by using your watch.

If the Salt-Away is flushed through, then followed by sea water, the procedure will not work.

DIRECTIONS:
  1. Remove the cap from the sea strainer, pour about 4 fl oz (118 ml) of Salt-Away into the sea strainer, and replace the cap.
  2. Start the engine, and shut it down immediately upon seeing the foaming action exiting into the water.
  3. Salt-Away must remain in the raw water system.
